Nights - Flexible across Younger Adults & Elderly Units.

We currently have permanent, full-time Senior Support Assistant opportunities available in our clients “Younger Adults” independent living service in Ayr, Ayrshire. These are permanent positions, working for a respected Care provider who offer the highest standards of care to both the Elderly and Younger Adults. The service offers a multi-unit operation, caring for residents with a varying range of medical conditions. 

As a Senior Support Assistant, you will be based within a newly renovated service currently being commissioned to support Adults under the age of 65 who have diagnosis’s of Learning Disabilities, Mental Health Illnesses, sensory impairments, cognitive impairments and physical impairments. In the younger adult services, they care for residents from the age of 18 upwards to 65 and within the role of Senior Support Assistant you will be expected to provide person centred and outcome focused care to our residents promoting independence and maximising skills through daily living tasks and living.

Upon joining the team, you will be part of a care and support team who are kind and caring to all residents and visitors. It is essential you bring with you a great work ethic and sense of humour, be an individual who is able to handle a high-stress working environment and the ability to use initiative in situations which may require the use of de-escalation and redirection is key. Training in these areas is provided, though these must be adaptable to practice.

Requirements:

* You will hold an SVQ Level 3 Health & Social Care or equivalent
* SSSC Registration or willingness to register within the specified timescale
* Right to live & work in the UK
* A minimum of 1 year previous experience as a Senior
* Experience of working with younger adults
* Ability to demonstrate initiative in de-escalation and redirection
* A knowledge of Electronic Care Planning would be advantageous
* Adaptable to environment and change
* An Understanding of National Care Standards & Codes of Conducts
* Completion of all mandatory training requirements
* A commitment to providing a standard of care that exceeds both company and industry standards

Role Responsibilities:

* Supporting service users to undertake personal hygiene tasks
* Support service users to lead meaningful and fulfilling lives
* Supporting service users to maximise their skills and encourage independence in as many daily living skills as possible
* Support service users to gain new skills appropriate to individual ability
* Support service users to be involved in activities of daily living such as laundry, meal preparation, room care and accessing the local community
* Support service users to make informed decisions which will be beneficial to their health and wellbeing
* Support service users to build and maintain positive therapeutic relationships
* Support service users by the safe administration of medication
* Support service users to utilise internal and external support networks
* Support service users to engage with multi-disciplinary teams and external professionals to ensure all care needs are being met
* Development and ongoing review of care plans
* Development and ongoing review of risk assessments
* Have good leadership skills to ensure the effective leading of a shift by having the ability to prioritise tasks, delegate tasks, maintain oversight and encourage junior staff to reach their full potential
* Understand the importance of accurate and detailed documentation and have the ability to complete care records, care plans, risk assessments alongside having good verbal and written communication skills.
