Team Jak provides emotional, social, and practical support for children and young people aged 0-25 with cancer and related illnesses, their families, and friends and those bereaved throughout Scotland.

The Role:

We are recruiting a new Community & Events Fundraising role beneath the COO to support fundraising across Scotland. Team Jaks success to date has been built on incredible fundraising from local communities around our Dens, our other areas of work and our families. This role will support income generation from individual ‘DIY’ fundraisers, event participants, schools and the Youth Philanthropy Initiative, small businesses, tin collections, awareness days, store bag packs, gala days, groups and organisations such as Rotary Clubs and community groups all across Scotland.

You will also play a key role in planning and delivering our ‘owned’ events such as ‘Zip slide the Clyde’, the Forth Bridge Abseil and special events such as our Ladies Day and Jak’s Annual Ball. You will work closely with the COO, the Fundraising Administrator in Jak’s Den HQ in Livingston and the Jak’s Den Aberdeen team to support our active fundraisers, providing a gold standard supporter experience so our fundraisers continue to support us year after year.

 Key Responsibilities:

* Supporting our community fundraising supporters and volunteers by answering queries, providing fundraising advice and guidance to deliver income.
* Proactively engaging with supporters and volunteers via telephone, letter, email and in person, in an efficient, timely and thoughtful manner. Delivering excellent stewardship and account management, at appropriate and agreed levels, always with a focus on engagement, retention and growth.
* Drafting engaging and tailored communications to supporters within agreed timescales, and in line with comms guidelines/stewardship plans.
* To lead on some owned events with responsibility for creating, implementing and delivering fundraising event plans ensuring targets are achieved, supporting in person for key events as defined.
* Delivering against agreed annual income targets and other KPIs. To continually monitor progress against budgets, creating and preparing financial reports for income and expenditure, highlighting variances against budget, proactively implementing mitigation and contingency action where necessary.
* Apply creative thinking to help identify and develop new ways of generating income through products, campaigns and activities.
* Seeking gifts in kind for auctions, raffles and fundraising activity at events as directed/requested.
* To help organise, promote and attend key events and collections
* Create engaging posts across Team Jak’s social media channels.
* To work with our DTMAD teams ensuring they have everything they need and have a positive experience during their day of volunteering within Jak’s Den.
* To liaise with and organise volunteers for planning and implementing fundraising events
* To work across the wider Team Jak team to spot opportunities to work collaboratively in the most effective way, and in the best way for our families and supporters.
* Learning about the work of Team Jak across our services and activities, developing robust and effective relationships with Children and Young People Family colleagues, and ensuring all internal stakeholders are engaged, consulted, and updated appropriately.
* Keep abreast of sector developments and maintain an awareness of good practice, innovation, trends, news, events and legislation particularly around fundraising compliance and regulation.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of relationships and activity on our database (Microsoft Dynamics) complying with GDPR, Fundraising regulations and internal standards.

As the role of Community & Events Fundraiser is a varied one, and many of the activities our supporters take part in fall outside normal office hours there will be occasion for you to work out with your contracted office hours. Team Jak operates a TOIL scheme (Time off in Lieu scheme) so that time can be taken back during the working week with the agreement of your line manager.

 Additional Responsibilities:

* To be committed and adhere to Team Jak’s vision, mission and values.
* To comply with Team Jak Child Protection and Adult Protection policies and procedures and with National Guidance.
* To comply with Team Jak code of conduct.
* To actively consider the involvement of children, young people and families with whom we work, in all areas of practice.
* To observe all health and safety requirements.
* To work within and promote policies in relation to Equal Opportunities and anti-discriminatory practices.

The post holder may also need to cover additional duties over and above those listed above.
