Team Jak provides emotional, social, and practical support for children and young people aged 0-25 with cancer and related illnesses, their families, and friends and those bereaved throughout Scotland.

The Role & Responsibilities:  

We are recruiting a new Part-Time Youth Co-ordinator to work specifically with our Teenagers & Parents. The role will require you to be available: Tuesdays 3:30pm - 6:30pm per week, Thursdays 10:30 - 12 Noon per week and 1st Sunday of each month 10:30am - 2:30pm and 3rd Sunday of each month 3 hours session that will allow you to:

  • Lead, plan, implement and evaluate our “Tuesday Lego & Games Club” right here at Jaks Den in Livingston.
  • Lead the weekly planning, presentation, organisation & evaluation of monthly teen activities from Jaks Den, quarterly outings as well as bespoke outreach support as required.
  • Lead the planning & implementation of quarterly Parental sessions, with a view to more regular “Support Group” sessions from the den.
  • Work with the CYP team to provide Outreach and Schools support as and when required.
  • To ensure events are advertised in good time and attendee list is kept up to date
  • To ensure all stats and evaluations and photographic evidence are submitted timeously for Lego and Teens
  • Liaise with CYP Lead and Volunteers re food for events and ensure Support Worker is ordering food and other resources timeously
  • To ensure all forward plans are submitted to CYP Lead for forwarding to SLT by deadline dates on Forward Plan document
  • To work with CYP Lead to plan Teen programme for the year then run it by her in future once completed
  • To liaise with designer to ensure all events have posters where required
  • To ensure there is a list with clear instructions for volunteers or DTMAD teams with requirements for any resources
  • Ensure all Risk Assessments and health and safety and child and adult protection requirements are in place at all times
  • Any other roles as required by Team Jak

The post holder may also need to cover additional duties over and above those listed above. These will normally be to cover temporary unforeseen circumstances or changes in work and will usually be compatible with the regular type of work.  If an additional task or responsibility becomes a regular or frequent part of the job, it will be included in the job description in consultation with the post holder.
